🐾 Frequently Asked Questions – Cozy Companions Pet & Home Care, Hilton Head Island
At Cozy Companions, we offer premium overnight pet sitting and house sitting for Hilton Head Island residents and second-home owners. Because we accept only a limited number of clients each year, we prioritize clarity, communication, and a calm, boutique experience. Below you’ll find answers to our most common questions.
🌊 Getting Started
How do I get started with overnight pet sitting or house sitting?
Simply complete our contact form to begin the process. We’ll reach out to schedule a complimentary Meet & Greet, where we’ll discuss your care needs, meet your pets (if applicable), and review how we can best support your home while you're away.
Do I need a Meet & Greet?
Yes. All new Hilton Head Island clients require a Meet & Greet so we can:
understand your routines
tour your home
review access instructions
meet your pets (if you have them)
ensure we’re an excellent fit for each other
Your first Meet & Greet is complimentary.
🌴 Services & Availability
Do you offer house sitting without pets?
Absolutely. Many of our clients are second-home owners who need overnight presence or regular check-ins while away.
We happily offer:
overnight house sitting
extended travel stays
mail/package collection
watering plants
rotating lights
trash day care
general home oversight & security presence
No pets required.
Do you offer drop-ins or short visits?
At this time, we do not offer drop-in visits as a standalone service. Our care model is based around overnight stays and extended home care, which allows for consistency, calm routines, and trusted presence in your home.
Selective midday walks are available only for existing overnight clients.
Do you accept all pets?
We care for well-behaved dogs and gentle cats who respond well to calm, steady routines. For safety reasons, we cannot accept pets with a history of aggression or unpredictable behavior. We reserve the right to decline any booking that is not a good match for our boutique service model.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible.
Because we accept only a small number of households:
Peak seasons (holidays, spring break, summer) fill quickly
Second-home owners often book weeks or months in advance
Reach out as soon as you know your travel dates.
🧡 Policies & Trust
Are you insured and bonded?
Yes, we are fully insured and bonded through Business Insurers of the Carolinas for your peace of mind.
Do you stay overnight or come and go?
Our standard service includes overnight presence in your home, with flexibility for daytime errands, writing, or island activities. Your home and pets receive consistent care, communication, and attention.
Do you ever board pets in your home?
No. All care is provided in your home where your pets feel safest and your routines remain uninterrupted.
How will you access my home?
We use your preferred secure access method, such as:
keyless entry
garage code
key
lockbox
security code
We always confirm access instructions in writing and test them before service begins.
What payment methods do you accept?
Zelle, cash, or check.
Payment is due before the start of service.
Holiday stays require full payment at booking.
What if there’s an emergency?
Your home and pets' safety is our top priority.
In an emergency, we will:
Contact you immediately
Contact your emergency contact
If needed, seek veterinary care or appropriate home support
Keep you updated throughout
We follow the detailed emergency plan discussed at your Meet & Greet.
🐾 Pet & Home Care Details
Do you accept “every other day” cat visits?
No. For the safety and wellbeing of your pet, all cats require at least once-daily care. Overnight stays are strongly recommended for older or anxious cats.
Can a neighbor or friend help with care while you’re sitting?
For the security of your home and clarity of care, we ask that no one else enters the home during booked stays.
This ensures:
consistent routines
accurate updates
safety
trust
clear responsibility
Why choose in-home care instead of boarding?
Pets experience significantly less stress when they remain:
in their own environment
on their usual schedule
surrounded by familiar smells and comforts
This also lowers:
illness exposure
travel stress
disruption to routines
Overnight care provides companionship, safety, and calm, especially for pets who thrive on stability.
What makes Cozy Companions different?
We are a boutique, low-volume, high-trust island service focused on:
gentle, calm energy
extensive experience
trauma-informed care
premium service for discerning homeowners
clear communication & photo updates
overnight presence, not rushed visits
We prioritize relationships over transactions — many clients remain with us long-term.
